A Letter from the President of SNAME
SNAME 2008 Annual Meeting Dear Fellow Members: I am pleased to invite you to attend the SNAME 2008 ANNUAL MEETING and EXPO. The format for the SNAME 2008 Annual Meeting has been revised based upon extensive member research and feedback. The SNAME 2008 Annual Meeting format has been expanded to meet a broad array of member needs. The marketing and member research studies approved by the Executive Committee, and conducted in the Fall of 2007 has provided significant quantitative and qualitative feedback regarding member recommendations for our Annual Meeting SNAME 2008 will feature increased networking opportunities and an expanded comprehensive technical program including the Ship Production Symposium – a proven winning combination. In addition, the popular President’s Reception, the Annual Banquet, Student Programs, Expo and the return of the President’s Luncheon. All events will be held in the George R. Brown Convention Center connected via skywalks to the Hilton Americas-Houston Hotel. This will provide convenient access to all activities associated with the SNAME Annual Meeting. The new 2008 format is designed to build on the strengths of SNAME’s technical programs. The 2008 program will include:
1. SNAME Technical Sessions, Papers, panels and presentations will address new and innovative production, design, operations, product, and system technologies that will provide opportunities for comprehensive professional development. The Expo will gather the best maritime products and technologies in one location for information exchange, sales, and networking. The popular Innovation Sessions will again take place enabling exhibitors to present their products and services in classroom-like settings. Houston, Texas is not only the fourth largest city in the United States, it is a leader in business, entertainment, the arts, and offshore technology. From world-class museums, incredible dining, and professional sports, to an out-of-this-world space experience, it’s all there in Houston. I encourage you to explore the city during your visit, and to take advantage of the opportunity to experience its unique flavor.
